Northern Lights Diary
Iceland in winter is a test of patience and endurance. Clear skies are rare, temperatures plunge well below freezing, and the aurora is notoriously unpredictable. But when the lights finally appear, all the waiting is forgotten.
Over twelve nights, I witnessed displays ranging from subtle green ribbons to explosive curtains of pink and purple that seemed to set the entire sky on fire. Each night brought different conditions, different moods, different lessons in humility before nature.
These photographs are my attempt to share a glimpse of that magic - though no image can truly capture the experience of standing alone in the darkness, watching the universe put on its most spectacular show.
